TOWSON, MD—In an impressive display of community spirit and compassion, Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) has achieved significant recognition from the American Heart Association (AHA). The district has been named the top school system in the eastern United States for its remarkable fundraising efforts dedicated to heart health during the last school year. Nationally, BCPS proudly holds the 10th position, underscoring the extensive impact of its initiatives.
Fundraising Success
Through the innovative Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge programs, BCPS students, staff, and their families came together to raise a staggering $321,421 in lifesaving donations. A total of 33 schools participated, along with 12 community schools, featuring over 3,180 engaged students and families. This collective effort showcases the powerful dedication to health that permeates the BCPS community.

Dr. Myriam Rogers, Superintendent of BCPS, emphasized the significance of this achievement. “This incredible achievement reflects the deep compassion and civic responsibility of our students, educators, and families,” she stated. Vital Skills Through Education
Integral to BCPS’s involvement is the participation of 686 students in Finn’s Mission, an AHA program designed to teach crucial skills, including hands-only CPR and awareness of stroke warning signs. This hands-on learning empowers students with knowledge that could save lives, allowing them to actively contribute to the health and safety of their peers.

- Riderwood Elementary School – $34,947
- Prettyboy Elementary School – $27,902
- Honeygo Elementary School – $25,587
- Cromwell Valley Elementary Magnet School – $24,239
- New Town Elementary School – $22,088
