Emma Hayes Reveals Adorable Secret About Her Son and Exposes USWNT Players

Embracing New Horizons: Harry Hayes and the American Dream

“Embraced” is the word Emma Hayes uses to describe her son Harry’s journey as he adapts to his new life in the United States. From naming state flags—a feat that even left Emma a bit embarrassed—to proudly singing the Star-Spangled Banner, it’s evident that the seven-year-old has truly made the U.S. feel like home. As he acclimates to this new culture, one wonders what his favorite spots are, beyond just places to eat and visit.

It raises an intriguing question: who does Harry admire on the U.S. Women’s National Team? While the answer may seem a given, considering whom he can call “Mom,” there’s also the likelihood that he has a favorite aunt figure among the team members who brings joy to his time with them. Emma certainly seems to be privy to some of these details.

During a recent chat on the US Soccer podcast, hosted by David Gass and Megan Klingenberg, Emma was asked about Harry’s favorites among the players. Her response was telling: “Well, he’s asked me three times since he’s been here, ‘Has Sophia [Wilson] had the baby yet? When is Sophia back? Is she coming back anytime soon? Is she back soon, Mom?’ I’d say Soph is a clear number one.”

However, Harry’s affection isn’t solely directed at Wilson. Emma revealed that he often chats with her about other players like Sam Coffey and Rose Lavelle. The entire team seems to enjoy Harry’s presence, with Emma noting, “To be honest, all the girls are great with him. He loves it. It is like permanent entertainment for him, and he loves amusing them and they likewise, winding him up.”

Yet, with all this joy, Harry sometimes faces the challenge of being influenced by his new friends. Emma humorously pointed out that some players have introduced him to sodas like Coca-Cola, which aren’t necessarily the best for kids his age. “They introduce him to things like Coca-Cola, stuff that you just find so cute. I’ve got like 25 bad babysitters and sometimes really good ones I’m afraid,” she noted with a laugh.

This banter reveals the light-hearted dynamics between Harry and the team, but it also highlights the warmth and camaraderie that exist. Despite the amusing beverages, the most crucial aspect is that Harry is thriving in his American environment, enjoying time spent with the talented athletes of the U.S. Women’s National Team. As for Harry’s fascination with Sophia Wilson’s impending addition to the family, it seems he’s found a future little buddy to look forward to.

Facing Challenges While Enjoying New Experiences

Despite the joyful experiences, Emma has candidly shared that their journey hasn’t been devoid of challenges. With her demanding coaching responsibilities, there are moments when separation from Harry proves difficult for both mother and son. “He struggles a little bit when I have to go away,” said the former Chicago Red Stars manager. She emphasized her desire to spend as much time with him as possible, as the separation has been one of the toughest challenges for them both.

Reflecting on a heartfelt moment post her gold medal win at the Paris Olympics, Emma recalled Harry running up to her, urging, “Mommy, you need to come home now. The team have had enough of you.” This poignant interaction captures just how much Harry cherishes his mother despite the fun he has.

The bond between them strengthens as they navigate their new reality together. Interestingly, both Harry and Emma share similar interests, finding joy in exploring the same locations. Just recently, they embarked on a tour of NASA’s facilities, where Harry accompanied his mother and his adorable friend Harper.

Harry’s excitement about their life in the United States is palpable, and it’s heartwarming to think that his endorsement played a role in encouraging Emma to take on the role with the U.S. Women’s National Team. “Let’s go to the USA, Mummy! I’m really excited,” he exclaimed, a sentiment that resonates deeply with the adventures yet to come.
